Qatar receives more than 600,000 visitors in December

Doha, Qatar— Qatar has received more than 614,000 visitors during the month of December 2022, a monthly increase of 3.7 percent as against November 2022.

The highest number of visitors were from the Gulf Cooperation Council at 40 percent. As for visitors by type of port, the visitors via air make up the highest percentage with 61 percent of the total number of visitors.

The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) has released the 108th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis.

In this issue, PSA highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during December 2022 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census.

Among the most prominent changes in this issue is the increase in total number of vessels arriving at Qatari Ports and total net tonnage, at a monthly rate of 6.6 percent and 22.9 percent, respectively (compared to November 2022), and an annual increase of 10.4 percent and 11.1 percent, respectively (compared to December 2021).

Furthermore, the total deposits and credit facilities of commercial banks rose at a monthly rate of 4.3 percent and 2.7 percent, respectively (compared to November 2022), and at an annual rate of 2.6 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively (compared to December 2021).

The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.68 million at December 2021 to 2.91 million at December 2022.

Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2376 live births have been registered during December 2022. Also, a decrease in the total Qatari live births by 3.9 percent comparing to last month. On the other hand, 226 deaths were recorded during the same period as it was in November 2022.

Moreover, December 2022 witnessed a monthly increase of 16.9 percent and 11.6 percent of total marriage contracts and total divorce certificates respectively compared to the previous month. The total number of marriage contracts reached 304 marriage contracts, while the total number of divorce certificates reached 106 cases.
