SCC’s committee endorses Sharjah Free Zones policy draft

The Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) has approved its recommendations on the policy of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority (SPCFZA), during its seventh meeting, which was held at its headquarters in Sharjah as part of its work for its third regular session of the tenth legislative term.

The meeting was chaired by Ali Mehd Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council. The council’s work began with the ratification of the minutes of the sixth meeting, after which the council discussed its recommendations regarding the policy of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority.

Through its draft recommendations, the council stressed the significance of continuing to expand business development, services and infrastructure in each of the seaports of the Emirate of Sharjah, calling for enhancing the attractive investment environment in the free zones affiliated with the authority, in keeping with the best international standards by providing more facilities and services.

Al Suwaidi emphasized the importance of such meetings, pointing out that the meeting contributes positively to ensure the development of the work of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, contributing in serving the Emirate of Sharjah, in line with the vision and directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The members of the Council also discussed the provisions of the recommendations and addressed a number of important topics, aiming to ensure the Authority’s successful work mechanism.

At the conclusion of the discussions, the members approved their recommendations regarding discussing the policy of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority.

Al Suwaidi delivered a speech, during which he expressed thanks to Dr. Abdullah Ibrahim Al Darmaki, Chairman of the committee preparing the draft of recommendations for the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), as well as thanking all members of the committee.

Concluding the session, Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary-General of Sharjah Consultative Council, announced that the 8th session will be held on Thursday, 20th January, 2022, to discuss the policy of the Department of Housing in the Emirate of Sharjah.
