UAE and WEF to hold ‘Great Directions for the Future’ dialogue in Abu Dhabi

The United Arab Emirates in partnership with the World Economic Forum will hold a two-day long gathering of thinkers to exchange ideas on ‘Great Directions for the Future’ dialogue in November.

The meeting represents the basis for an initiative that brings together the world’s elite thinkers, minds and future foresights, on a single platform, to exchange ideas, share visions and cooperate in shaping the most important long-term future directions, and in shaping a more flexible, comprehensive and sustainable vision for the future of humanity.

His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, stressed that the “Great Orientations for the Future” dialogue represents a new stage in the growing strategic partnership between the UAE government and the World Economic Forum, and reflects their shared visions of the centrality of international cooperation in determining future paths and drawing broad lines for the next major directions, to build Prosperous societies and enhanced readiness of governments.

Mohammed Al Gergawi said that the UAE government, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him”, is keen to participate effectively in the global movement aimed at motivating societies, individuals and governments to work together to create a better future for humanity and an economy More diversification ensures sustainable prosperity for countries and builds a system of new opportunities for future generations.

He added that achieving this goal requires expanding the circle of global dialogue to include industry leaders, experts and specialists in foreseeing the future, and providing them with the opportunity to exchange visions and ideas about the future we aspire to, and to participate in imagining and creating it collectively.

For his part, Klaus Schwab, founder and CEO of the World Economic Forum, said that the novel coronavirus pandemic underscored the urgent need to focus on the long-term future and health of our societies.

Schwab pointed out that the “Great Directions for the Future” dialogue and the meeting in Dubai will constitute a strong incentive to shape the features of a more prosperous and inclusive future for humanity, more respectful of nature, praising the support of the UAE government for the initiative that addresses the unprecedented challenges facing the world today.

The “Great Trends for the Future” dialogue will bring together a group of leading global thinkers from various disciplines, including futurists, genetics, the future of health, telemedicine, space, economics, business, urban development, environment and climate change, society, and other future disciplines.

The outcomes of the meeting, the dialogues that will be witnessed over two days, and the inspiring ideas that will be presented by thinkers, experts and specialists, will be transformed into a comprehensive book entitled “Great Directions for the Future”.
