  • The Sultanate hopes the lockdown to have the same effect as the earlier one in bringing down the infection rate

Oman has eased its total lockdown of the country during the Eid holidays imposed in order to curb the spread of the Covid infection.

The night-time closure of commercial activities as well as movement restrictions on people and vehicles will remain though in place. The Sultanate hopes the lockdown to have the same effect as the earlier one in lowering the rate of infection in the country. The much more transmissible form of coronavirus, the delta variant, has spread through the Middle East, and in many countries, strict measures have been taken to control the infection.

Authorities earlier extended the evening ban on businesses and travel, from 5 p.m. until 4 a.m., until the end of the month as a precaution against the spread of coronavirus in the sultanate.

Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Sa’eedi, the health of Oman, earlier explained that previous lockdowns in the Sultanate have contributed to a considerable decline in COVID-19 cases.
