IIoT to play crucial role in Egypt’s oil & gas sector future
Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and cloud-based solutions will be key driving forces for the development of Egypt’s oil and gas sector. That was the message delivered and showcased at the Honeywell Oil & Gas Technologies Symposium, that was recently held in Cairo.
The Symposium showcased how state-of-the-art connected technology is rapidly changing the way oil and gas organizations operate around the world.
Oil & gas critical for Egypt’s growth
Khaled Hashem, president, Honeywell Egypt said: “Egypt is one of the most dynamic economies in the region, and the oil and gas sector is critical for its continued development and growth. Honeywell has been operating in Egypt for more than 30 years and during that time, we have worked on some of the most significant energy and infrastructure projects to date in the country.”
“We remain committed to supporting the growth ambitions of Egypt’s economy and delivering technology that helps its industry extract maximum value from its oil and gas reserves. Our connected technologies will help Egypt create more value from its hydrocarbons and we look forward to continuing our work with industry leaders,” added Hashem.
Honeywell’s vast technology portfolio spans refining and petrochemical technologies, catalysts, process and control systems, renewable fuels and chemicals and specialty materials. It also includes industrial safety equipment, fire, gas and smoke detection products, home and industrial security, scanning and warehouse logistics solutions, cockpit controls, mechanical components and connectivity systems for aircraft, automotive turbochargers, defense technology and building management systems.
Evangelos Alepochoritis, sales director for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Honeywell Process Solutions, said: “We see a lot of opportunity to expand our presence in Egypt given the huge potential of this country, and we intend to continue our support to the Egyptian oil and gas sector through research, training and innovative product development. In particular, we continue to focus on expanding our IIoT and Honeywell Connected Plant offerings to help improve the productivity and efficiency of Egypt’s existing oil and gas infrastructure, leveraging decades of our experience in the sector.”
Bringing rich dividends
Honeywell Connected Plant offerings can bring significant benefits to industrial plants, including reduced downtime, increased efficiency, and improved safety and security.
The company’s technology includes physical and cloud-based solutions that monitor, predict and improve plant performance. As the region continues to diversify its process industries in line with regional growth visions, the IIoT will play a critical role in this transformation.
