Dubai, UAE – Dubai has scrapped the 10-day grace period for visitors whose tourist visas have expired, Arabian Business reported on Friday.
Previously, individuals who overstayed their visas were allowed an additional 10 days in Dubai before facing penalties. However, Dubai has now followed other emirates in removing this grace period.
Instead, tourists with a visit visa now have the option to extend their visas from inside the country.
This change aims to streamline the visa process and accommodate holidaymakers. In October 2022, the UAE Cabinet approved several visa changes, including extending the validity of all entry visas to 60 days from the date of issue. Previously, tourists could apply for 30, 60, or 90-day visas.
Those who overstay their visas in Dubai will now be fined AED50 per day. This means it is crucial for visitors to ensure their visas are valid and to apply for an extension if necessary to avoid penalties.
