Istanbul, Turkey – Turkey is ready to act as a guarantor country for Palestine in the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in his address to a parliamentary session on Wednesday, Russian agency TASS reported.
Erdogan also proposed to convene an international peace conference aimed to resolve the ongoing crisis.
“We are ready to act as a guarantor country for Palestine in resolving the conflict,” Turkish president said. “We also propose to convene an international peace conference on a settlement between Israel and Palestine with the participation of all influential parties.”
“Turkey will always bear the responsibility of paving the way for the lasting peace,” he continued. “We view the institution of guarantor countries, which we have proposed as a tool for the most effective method for the real solution of the problem, at least in the short-and mid-term perspective.”
“We call on the countries with goodwill to asses this proposal as soon as possible, to take concrete steps and open the doors to the peace,” Erdogan added.
