Morocco will be producing the Chinese Covid-19 vaccine Sinopharm locally, involving an investment of around $500 million, a report said.
About 5 million doses could be produced a month soon, the official MAP news agency said. Morocco and Sinopharm signed a memorandum of cooperation to this effect at a ceremony attended by King Mohammed VI,
On Thursday, the country received a second batch of 4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Morocco launched Africa’s first national vaccination campaign more than two weeks ago. Since January, when the inoculation drive started, about 9.1 million of the country’s 36 million population have received two doses of vaccines.
