Diriyah, Saudi Arabia – Saudi Arabia, has revealed plans for “The Arena in Diriyah,” a monumental 76,000-square-meter lifestyle facility set to redefine the region’s cultural and entertainment landscape.
Designed by London-based HKS Architects as part of a $63.2 billion masterplan, the arena aims to become the Middle East’s premier venue destination, attracting global visitors and enhancing Saudi Arabia’s entertainment scene.
Group CEO of Diriyah Company Jerry Inzerillo said: “The Arena exemplifies Diriyah’s unique lifestyle offering that harmonizes community, culture, and natural connection, setting a new standard for world-class destinations rooted in Saudi heritage.”
Embracing Najdi architecture motifs, the arena promises a versatile design enabling swift configuration changes for hosting various events while ensuring optimal viewing angles and excellent acoustics for spectators.
Beyond its architectural prowess, the Arena in Diriyah will feature a vibrant shopping district and an outdoor plaza for performances, enriching the entertainment experience. With its inauguration aligning with Saudi Vision 2030, the venue aims to showcase an authentic Saudi lifestyle, blending heritage and innovation to stimulate tourism and economic growth.
Lead architect Alex Thomas of HKS Architects described the arena’s design as inspired by local geological formations and ancient Najdi forts, rising from the landscape like monoliths.
The announcement ceremony, attended by UK Minister of State for Business and Trade, Lord Dominic Johnson of Lainston, signifies a significant step in Diriyah’s transformation into a global entertainment hub.
