Expo 2020 receives 3m visits in first five weeks

It has just been a little more than a month and Expo 2020 has received some three million visits, since it began in a grand fashion on October 1.

According to the event organizers, from October 1 to November 7, a total of 2,942,388 people passed through the fair’s gates, about seven times the visits during the first 10 days of the event. The visitor numbers include more than 100,000 schoolchildren.

Organizers also said that the number of virtual visits to the Expo 2020 Dubai’s online platform has reached 14.8 million since October 1. Expo 2020 Dubai runs until March 31, 2022. It is seen as a key driver for the UAE economy after the coronavirus pandemic.

Ticket sales for the fair have been beefed up to increase traffic to the fair, which seeks to promote unity, opportunity, creativity and sustainability.

Since opening day, several celebrations have been held at the venue. In the past week, Expo 2020 Dubai marked the UAE Flag Day, which saw Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, raising the national flag.
