Jordan’s trade balance surplus with the United States during the January-November period 2021 stood at $1.384 billion.

The President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham) Mohammad Batayneh said in a statement.

He added that Jordan’s exports during the first 11 months of 2021 nearly reached $2.5 billion, compared to $1,120 billion in imports.

Batayneh noted garment and textile industries’ products are the top Jordanian exports to the American market.

It is followed by engineering, foodstuffs, Dead Sea products, and jewellery, said Batayneh.

He said that Jordan has started online export services via digital economy transactions in both engineering and information areas.

The online services would have a “significant” impact on Jordanian exports in the coming years, he pointed out.

Jordanian-American relations are “getting closer than ever before,” lauding US support to the Kingdom to address “difficult” economic conditions, he noted.

Jordan was the first Arab country to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States in 2000, which fully entered into force in January 2010.
