MENA Transport Congress Exhibition kicks off in Dubai

The fourth edition of the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition began on Monday in Dubai.

The three-day event is organized by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in collaboration with the Belgium-based International Association of Public Transport (UITP).

Heads of various government departments, 1,000 participants and 73 speakers from 19 countries, and about 40 entities from 17 countries are taking part in the accompanying exhibition.

The Congress includes 13 sessions, five of which are main sessions.

The topics in the main sessions include discussions of mobility in the post-Covid-19 phase, the role of MENA mobility leaders in defining the future of mobility in the region, smart mobility management, future cities, and the role of female leaders in public transport.

Other sessions will discuss the smart transport service, eco-friendly electric buses, artificial intelligence and big data, first and last-mile trips, post-pandemic sustainability and public transportation services, and technology enablers.

Wiebe Wakker, a Sustainable Adventurer, delivered a speech highlighting his experience of traveling by an electric vehicle to Australia and the challenges he faced during the trip.

He also talked about his experience of living in the UAE for three months and the key lessons learned, as well as his journey from the UAE to Sydney, Australia.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, opened the event.
