Egypt center’s conference on extremism calls for cooperation

Salam Center for Studies of Extremism is a research and academic center affiliated with the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta.
  • Participation from more than 42 countries include senior religious leaders, ministers and representatives of fatwa houses worldwide.
  • It aims to enhance international cooperation in combating extremism and exchanging experiences in this regard, with emphasis on research and academic cooperation.

The first international conference by Egypt’s Salam Center for Studies of Extremism began in Cairo, with the participation of delegations from more than 42 countries.

The participants include senior religious leaders, ministers and representatives of fatwa houses worldwide.

The conference, which will continue till June 9, aims to discuss the phenomenon of extremism and the need for everyone to unite and exchange different visions at the three levels: local, regional and international.

It also aims at enhancing international cooperation in combating extremism and exchanging experiences in this regard, with emphasis on research and academic cooperation.

Grand Mufti of Egypt and Head of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities and Roles in the World, Dr. Shawky Allam, said the international conference will work to come up with scientific initiatives that support the process of combating extremism both as prevention and treatment, deepening religious and academic discussions on the phenomenon of extremism, and strengthening cooperation and coordination between research institutions and experts in combating extremism and terrorism.

Salam Center for Studies of Extremism is a research and academic center affiliated with the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta.

It is concerned with the study of extremism and methods of combating and preventing it.
