Three-day Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival to begin Friday

The 7th edition of Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival begins Friday at the Emirates Hospitality Centre in Ajman.

Showcasing the finest dates produced in the UAE, the festival displays the best types of dates.

Organized by Ajman Department of Tourism Development, the festival targets more than 400 participants.

It aims to enhance palm trees as a symbol of the Emirati heritage, and preserve and invest in the palm trees.

The three-day festival also includes events that aim to revive the old Emirati customs and traditions.

This includes competitions for choosing the best dates, honey, citrus fruits, lemon, mango, and almonds, and traditional food competitions.

The festival also aims at encouraging local productions and supporting famers in preserving agriculture.

It holds several educational lectures and seminars on the importance of agriculture.

Specifically designed children’s area to educate kids about methods to plant and maintain palm trees is also a part of the festival.

This is in addition to homemade craft houses that introduce the visitors to the traditions and history of the UAE.

The festival includes platforms for plantations to showcase the alternative solutions and latest practices and techniques in the fields of alternative agriculture.

It will also display types of fertilizers that improves food security and sustainability of the agricultural sector in the country.
