Iraq, US discuss efforts to combat money laundering, terror funding

Iraqi Central Bank Governor Mustafa Ghalib Mokhif discussed with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, on Monday the efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. 

“The Governor of the Central Bank, Mustafa Ghalib, received the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, and her accompanying delegation,” a statement by the Central Bank said.

Mokhif reviewed “the efforts of the Central Bank to support development through monetary policy means and the direct impact of its initiatives on the real sector, providing employment and sustainability, in addition to the efforts made in combating money laundering and terrorist financing by adopting an integrated legal system and effectively applying it to sectors that may be used in it.”
