New York, US— Kuwait has reiterated its support for a peaceful solution to the Yemeni conflict that can bring about peace and stability in the war-scarred country.
The sentiment was conveyed by Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah to US Special Envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, in a meeting.
The meeting was held in New York on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser reiterated Kuwait’s principled stance supporting all efforts aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the Yemeni conflict to help restore security and stability in the Arab country and achieve Yemeni people aspirations.
He welcomed the agreement reached by the Yemeni parties last month to extend the UN-mediated truce with the support of regional and international actors based on the initiative made by the Kingdom of the Saudi Arabia in March 2021.
He hoped the truce would continue to maintain the recent state of clam in Yemen.
Sheikh Ahmad also hailed the efforts of the US special envoy in this regard.
For his part, the US envoy informed the Kuwaiti top diplomat about the outcome of his recent trips to the region and the latest developments related to the situation in Yemen.
