Abu Dhabi Media taps STARZPLAY to stream AFC matches

Abu Dhabi Media has inked a deal with streaming service STARZPLAY to stream AFC tournaments and club competitions.

The broadcast rights of these football matches in the UAE will belong exclusively to Abu Dhabi Media from 2021 to 2024, the UAE-based public service broadcaster and media company has said in a statement.

From September, the matches are expected to be streamed on STARZPLAY, starting with the Asian qualifying matches for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

As part of the deal, football enthusiast in the UAE will be able to subscribe to the Abu Dhabi Sports channels Asia 1 and Asia 2 on the STARZPLAY platform for a monthly fee of AED15 (a little more than $4).

They may also subscribe to the complete STARZPLAY package for AED40 (around $11).

The commentary for all the Asian championships’ matches will apparently be available in both Arabic and English.

STARZPLAY Cofounder and Chief Commercial Officer Danny Bates was quoted by the statement as saying: “We look forward to growing our relationship with Abu Dhabi Media and offering rich and diverse content for our subscribers who are sports enthusiasts.”
