DUBAI, UAE — Arab countries are increasingly fostering a progressive environment for women, encouraging them to participate in the region’s economic and technological transformation, said an expert.
“Women have proven they can achieve great things and become technological pioneers,” Noha Kadry, Regional Program Manager at Red Hat Academy Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Pakistan, told TRENDS.
Remote work opportunities have enabled women to maintain better work-life balance and adapt to different schedules, she added.
Advancements in education and technology have created accessible platforms for people of all backgrounds, leveling the playing field for success. Social media, for example, allows women to launch multimillion-dollar businesses from their homes.
Noha observed women making significant strides in the tech industry, leading major companies and inspiring others. Female-founded startups and initiatives like STEM and Women in Tech have helped bridge the gender gap in technology, empowering women to drive innovation in their communities.
According to Noha, companies are increasingly involving women in various business roles, and their voices are being heard in decision-making positions and research units.
She noted the progress towards gender equality in these fields, but emphasized the importance of addressing potential disparities in areas like promotion opportunities and resource access.
Noha’s message to Arab women was to persevere through challenges, develop their skills, and stay determined. She advised women to embrace technology and its opportunities, as it is essential to be well-versed in this rapidly advancing field.
Noha encouraged women to believe in themselves and recognize their value, assuring them that their significant contributions can help bridge the gender gap in the technology industry.
