Lebanon, France ink pact to preserve media archives

Lebanon and France on Friday signed an agreement to safeguard and digitize the archives of Tele Liban (TL), Radio Lebanon (Radio Liban), Lebanese Studies and Publications Department, and the National News Agency (NNA).

The agreement was signed between the Lebanon Information Minister, Ziad Makaryand French Ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Grillo, Representative of the French National Audiovisual Institute (INA) Olivier Porcherot, and Tele Liban Director Viviane Lebbos. 

The Minister of Information hailed the launch of the Lebanese public media archives’ digitization project, thanking France  for its unlimited support for this project, which “preserves Lebanon’s collective memory and contributes to benefiting from this cultural legacy.”

The French Ambassador said this project is a glimpse of hope in light of the stifling crisis that is afflicting Lebanon, highlighting the “importance of the content of the public media archive in Lebanon.”
