UAE approves weeklong Eid al-Fitr holiday

  • The UAE Cabinet announced that the period from Ramadan 29 through 3rd Shawwal 1443 will be a paid Eid holiday for all private sector workers

The UAE Cabinet has approved a weeklong Eid al-Fitr holiday for all federal government entities operating across the country, starting from Saturday, April 30 through Friday, May 6, 2022, with federal employees to resume duties on Monday, May 9, 2022.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation earlier announced that the period from Ramadan 29 through 3rd Shawwal 1443 will be a paid Eid holiday for all private sector workers.

A circular to this effect was issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in implementation of the Federal Cabinet’s decision regarding the calendar of official holidays. 

The holy month of Ramadan began on April 2 for most Muslim countries, following observations from the International Astronomical Center (IAC).
