Bahrain government has provided unemployment benefits to 31,099 citizens in 2021, according to the country’s Labor Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan.

He said the unemployment benefit has not been discontinued for any beneficiary who meets the eligibility conditions in accordance with the Unemployment Insurance Law.

Humaidan said amendments have been made to the Unemployment Insurance Law to keep pace with the economic requirements of Bahraini jobseekers.

“A new clause was added to the Unemployment Insurance Law to disburse financial support to sectors affected by the pandemic, as controls were established stipulating entitlement to financial support to pay the wages of Bahraini workers in these facilities, which contributed to their protection and job stability in 12 sectors,” he said.
