DP World launches e-commerce site Dubuy in Kenya

  • Dubuy.com, an e-commerce platform of DP World, has launched in Kenya
  • It has already seen over 500,000 website visits from African vendors since its launch in Rwanda six months ago

DP World has launched its global wholesale e-commerce platform Dubuy.com in Kenya, local reports have said.

Dubuy.com is an online marketplace that is expected to help unlock access to global markets for Kenyan businesses.

The platform’s expansion comes after the its launch in Rwanda earlier this year, where it has established itself as a significant East African commerce gateway, said the local reports.

With it, DP World is said to be establishing a strategic trading gateway into East Africa, with eight current terminals and three more under construction.

The reports said the combination of Dubuy.com’s technology and DP World’s physical infrastructure provides a secure and reliable way for Kenyan businesses to grow, expand, and most importantly improve supply-chain connectivity and resilience as the country recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is also expected to focus on some of the major obstacles to the expansion of e-commerce in Africa through trustworthy fulfilment, safe financial transactions, and goods mobility.

The launch in Kenya comes six months after Dubuy.com began trading operations in Rwanda.

Since then, Dubuy.com has registered over 500,000 website visits from African vendors and customers, grown to over 4,000 active merchants on the platform, and experienced particular success selling automotive supplies and kitchen appliances, said the local reports.
