Dubai Chamber of Commerce reports 43% increase in member firms

Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Chamber of Commerce reported a 43 percent increase in new member companies, reaching a total of 30,146 in the first half of 2023, up from 21,098 in the first half of 2022.

The total value of exports and re-exports from member companies also saw a 7 percent increase, reaching AED 137.6 billion ($37.46bn), up from AED 129.4 billion ($35.23bn) in the same period last year.

The chamber issued 357,000 certificates of origin during H1 2023.

Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Ghurair, Chairman of Dubai Chambers, said, “Our impressive results from the first half of this year confirm the success of our unique business model, which is based on three specialized chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers.”

The chamber also reported a significant increase in the value of goods and commodities, with a growth of more than 108 percent, while the number of ATA Carnets issued and received increased by 3.3 percent.

In May, the Dubai Centre for Family Businesses was launched under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers.

The Center aims to ensure the growth and sustainability of family businesses in Dubai and enhance their economic contribution to the emirate’s dynamic future.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce reviewed a total of 54 draft laws in cooperation with Business Groups during the first half of the year.

It also received 75 mediation cases and established more than 100 Business Groups representing diverse economic sectors in the emirate.

The chamber’s Business Advocacy sector arranged over 160 meetings with representatives from Business Groups and Councils to explore challenges and opportunities in specific sectors.

It also organized 24 Annual General Assembly events for Business Groups and Councils, benefiting more than 1,300 businesses in Dubai.

The ‘Business Sectors Platform’ was also launched, offering an innovative package of services designed to empower Business Groups and Business Councils and enhance their activities’ effectiveness and efficiency.

On the sustainability front, Dubai Chambers co-hosted ‘Road to COP28: Driving Collective Climate Action in the UAE’ in May, attracting around 700 attendees.

The Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) organized three Sustainability Knowledge Series events, attracting 408 participants from 310 companies.

The chamber’s accomplishments reflect the competitiveness of Dubai and its business community, along with the chamber’s commitment to achieving its strategic priorities, supporting the emirate’s economic aspirations, and realizing the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
