Dubai unveils Expo 2020 ‘passport’ for visitors

  • Booklet to keep a record of pavilion visits during entire 6-month event
  • It is available for purchase at 20 dirhams ($5.45) from all Expo 2020 Dubai stores spread across the site

Visitors to Dubai’s Expo 2020 will be required to buy a 50-page booklet, passport, that would keep tabs of an individual’s visits and hold a unique number, as well as passport-size photo and personal details.

It is available for purchase at 20 dirhams ($5.45) from all Expo 2020 Dubai stores spread across the site.

“The vibrant yellow passport encourages visitors to see as many pavilions as possible during the 182-day event and helps them to relieve those special moments after they leave the mega-event,” a statement said.

Expo 2020 will run for six months from October 1. It is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors each month. One of its major highlights are the pavilions representing each participating country that promise unique and “immersive experiences” to visitors.

The event’s passport will have a special page stamped in gold foil, featuring a photograph of the nation’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in celebration of the UAE’s Golden Jubilee year. The image was taken in 1971, when the UAE celebrated the birth of the nation.

The booklet also contains designs and pictures of the three thematic pavilions at the site, as well as other Dubai landmarks and the city’s iconic skyline.

The passport can also be purchased at the Expo 2020 Dubai store at Dubai Airports’ Terminal 3 and online store of expo2020dubai.com.
