Empower cools Uptown tower

  • DMCC was keen to build the Uptown project according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold standards
  • As a result, it is now supplied with environmentally friendly cooling services of sustainable global standards

The Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation, or Empower, has started servicing the Uptown tower in Dubai, local reports have said.

Empower is said to be rendering its environmentally-friendly district cooling services to the tower, servicing a capacity of 3,850 refrigeration tons or RT.

Uptown is the first high-rise tower in the Uptown Dubai, which is located opposite the Jumeirah Lakes Towers district and developed by the Dubai Multi Commodities Center.

Empower attributes the increasing demand for energy efficient district cooling services to the growing awareness about the economic and environmental benefits of district cooling solutions among real-estate developers.

District cooling is said to save energy, reduce maintenance and capital expenses, and curb greenhouse gas emissions.

DMCC was keen to build the Uptown project according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold standards.

As a result, it is reportedly supplied with environmentally friendly cooling services of sustainable global standards that are consistent and complementary to its smart and sustainable construction strategy.
