Dubai-located ecommerce free zone EZDubai has announced that it has started construction across 270,000 square feet for four projects, as it prepares for future demand.

Located in the heart of Dubai South’s Logistics District, it already has 1.3 million square feet developed and handed over.

The announcement comes on the sidelines of the company’s participation at the upcoming Seamless Middle East 2021 exhibition, which will take place on September 29 and 30 at Dubai World Trade Center.

EZDubai was launched in January 2019 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai

The 9,902,700 square-feet purpose-built ecommerce hub is designed to attract ecommerce companies.

Mohsen Ahmad, CEO of the Logistics District at Dubai South, was quoted as saying in a statement: “Due to increased demand, we are continuously developing additional facilities to ensure that our discerning partners receive the best services.”

Meanwhile, the UAE is aspiring to become the fastest-growing ecommerce market in the Middle East, with its domestic ecommerce sector set to contribute AED12 billion (around $3.27 billion) to the GDP by 2023.

The e-fulfilment centers located in EZDubai supported by market demand has created a need for proximity last-mile centers within the cluster, said the statement.

EZDubai is now constructing two last-mile centers to support the business generated by the big market leaders.

Such last-mile centers are expected to support the customer journey, enabling cluster benefits.
