Iraq to partner with General Electric to build 400 energy plants

Baghdad, Iraq–Iraq has begun constructing 400 energy plants of high-quality specifications in all regions across the country.

In a press statement, Iraqi Minister of Electricity Ziyad Ali Fadel said that the Ministry has discussions and contracts with General Electric and other American companies to implement some of these projects.

He pointed out that such companies will implement projects with high-quality specifications to ensure stability of the plants for long years to come.

The first phase of the signed contracts, specially in the field of energy transfer in 2019 and 2020 with Siemens company, was entirely completed, Fadel said, pointing out that the ministry has managed to equip over 14 plants and operate them across Iraq.

The ministry is engaging in negotiations with Siemens to maintain and rehabilitate the old generating plants manufactured by the company, he pointed out.
