Jordan and Saudi Arabia have discussed the ways to increase the exchange of crops and foodstuffs between the two countries.
Jordan’s Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat met a delegation of the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Water to discuss the importance of exchanging joint expertise to develop the agricultural sector in both countries.
The Saudi delegation was led by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Water, Ahmed bin Saleh Khomshi.
In turn, Khomshi pointed to Saudi Arabia’s keenness to develop agricultural ties with Jordan and provide possible facilitations, while maintaining requirements of safety and quality of agricultural products imported into Saudi Arabia.
Later, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Muhammad Hiyari, and his Saudi counterpart, Ahmed bin Saleh Khomshi, held talks to discuss issues of common interest, the most important export obstacles and some procedures on the two countries’ borders, Jordanian media reports said.
Hiyari said Jordan lauds the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Water’s cooperation and the “rapid” response to some follow-ups from the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture, stressing the importance of developing means of contact through a joint committee that solves difficulties and helps maintain sustainable exports.
