  • Jordan had imported roughly three million barrels of Iraqi crude from September 2021 to October 2022.
  • The crude oil was transported by 11,565 Jordanian and Iraqi tanker trucks.

AMMAN, JORDAN – Jordan imported about 405,550 barrels of crude oil from Iraq in October, an average of 13,000 barrels per day, the Kingdom’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh said Tuesday.

He said in a press release that the Kingdom had imported roughly three million barrels of Iraqi crude from September 2021 to October 2022, which was transported by 11,565 Jordanian and Iraqi tanker trucks.

Under a signed agreement, Jordan imports 10,000 barrels per day of crude from the Kirkuk oil fields in northern Iraq, which accounts for approximately seven percent of its market’s daily demand.

Iraq sells crude oil to the Kingdom at a discount rate of $16 per barrel from the average price of Brent crude to account for transport costs, inspection fees, and quality differences.
