Jordan’s jewelry, pharmaceutical exports rise in January-September 2023

AMMAN, JORDAN – The Kingdom’s exports of jewelry increased by 71.5 percent during the January-September period of 2023 and pharmaceutical preparations by 28.2 percent, while other materials’ grew by 12.2 percent, as per figures monitored by Petra based on official statistical data.

The value of national exports of jewelry until the end of September amounted to about US$858 million (JD609 million), compared to US$500 million (JD355 million) for the same period last year, the data revealed.

Meanwhile, the value of exports of pharmaceutical preparations amounted to about US$531 million (JD377 million), compared to US$414 million (JD294 million) for the same period last year.

Additionally, the value of national exports of other materials until the end of last September of 2023 amounted to US$3.5 billion (JD2.515 billion), compared to US$3.1 billion (JD2.241 billion) for the same period last year.

Percentages of national exports went down from the beginning of 2023 until end of last September for clothing and related accessories by 13.9 percent, raw potash by 37.2 percent, phosphate by 23.7 percent, and fertilizers by 14.3 percent, the data showed.

According to the statistics, the value of the Kingdom’s exports of clothing and related accessories until end of last September 2023 amounted to about US$1.4 billion (JD1.020 billion), compared to US$1.6 billion (JD1.185 billion) for the same period last year.

Meanwhile, value of phosphate exports amounted to about JD454 million, compared to JD595 million for the same period last year.

The value of the Kingdom’s exports of raw potash also amounted to approximately JD515 million, compared to JD820 million for the same period last year, the official figures showed.

The value of fertilizer exports stood at approximately JD782 million until the end of last September 2023, compared to JD912 million for the same period of 2022.

The total value of national exports until the end of last September of 2023 went down by 2 percent, reaching JD6.272 billion, compared to JD6.402 billion for the same period last year, the data revealed.
