Jordan’s trade balance deficit with the European Union countries expanded by 12.9% in 2021 compared to 2020.
Total trade deficit reached about JD2.671 billion, ($3.77 billion) when figures for the same amounted to about JD2.364 billion ($3.33b) in 2020.
Additionally, the value of national exports to EU countries increased by 29.9 per cent during 2021 and reached about JD199 million ($280.68million).
The value for the same amounted to about JD153 million ($215.8m) in 2020, foreign trade data issued by the Department of Statistics, said on Saturday.
Also, the value of imports from the EU also increased in 2021 by 14 per cent, reaching about JD2.870 billion ($4.05b).
Compared to 2020, the imports value amounted to JD2.517 billion ($3.55b).
The data showed that Holland was the top importer of Jordanian products last year, reaching about JD39 million ($55m).
Germany was the EU’s largest exporter to the Kingdom, which amounted to approximately JD544 million ($767.3m), said the Department of Statistics.
