The Qatar arm of McDonald’s has warned its customers against fake websites of the global fast-food chain in the country.
It has said these websites are being used to dupe them in the name of McDonald’s.
In a statement shared on Instagram, it said: “We have been made aware of numerous fraudulent websites impersonating our business in Qatar.”
It added that these websites are apparently advertising fake offers and requesting bank details from customers for fake and fraudulent transactions.
The company said: “We’ve reported this problem and are working closely with the local authorities to rectify the matter and take down these sites.”
It then went on to urge customers to “avoid engaging with non-verified McDonald’s social media platforms.”
It said: “For optimum security, we advise customers to only order through MyMcDonald’s App, our official websites”
It also said people could order through its approved delivery partners Talabat, Carriage, Rafeeq and Snoonu.
