  • Two members of EGA’s Executive Committee are women
  • EGA also employs more than 400 women around the world

Emirates Global Aluminium will increase the proportion of women in supervisory positions to 25% by 2025, local reports have said.

EGA, the largest industrial company in the UAE outside the oil and gas industry, made the announcement to mark Emirati Women’s Day, said the local reports.

Women currently hold 18% of supervisory positions at EGA in the UAE, working at all levels in the company’s operations and corporate functions, said the reports.

Two members of EGA’s Executive Committee are women. EGA also employs more than 400 women around the world.

The local reports quoted the company as saying the achievement of this target would contribute to the UAE’s long-standing national objectives to increase the participation of women in the economy and society.

EGA is currently said to be rolling out a mentoring program for women, led by the senior-most executives in the company, focused on personal development and career growth.

EGA’s Chief Executive Officer Abdulnasser Bin Kalban was quoted by the local reports as saying about the new goal: “We recognize that setting a target is just the beginning. To achieve it, we will develop further our inclusive leadership and culture, and focus on developing and progressing our high performing female employees.”
