NEOM taps India’s Rajasthan Royals for its cricket program

NEOM, Saudi Arabia – NEOM, the futuristic city being developed in Saudi Arabia, has announced its collaboration with Rajasthan Royals, a prominent T20 cricket team from India, to launch its inaugural cricket program. The pilot initiative aims to promote an active and healthy lifestyle among NEOM’s growing workforce, which is projected to reach 60,000 individuals by the year-end.

Rajasthan Royals, known for its cricket academies and community foundation work, was established in Jaipur in 2008. In celebration of the partnership, Manoj Badale, the lead owner of Rajasthan Royals, recently visited NEOM to meet Nadhmi Al-Nasr, the CEO of NEOM, interact with community members, and participate in various cricket sessions.

The cricket program at NEOM is intended “to prioritize inclusivity and reflect the Royals’ commitment to advancing cricket globally”. 

With thousands of individuals already employed at NEOM, cricket has emerged as one of the most popular sports among the workforce, garnering increased participation and a growing spectator base.

“It’s important that we develop a thriving cricket ecosystem that can be enjoyed by everyone,” Prince Saud bin Mishal Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation said. .”We are excited to see NEOM’s cricket program partnered by Rajasthan Royals offer that, while also contributing to the growth of the sport in the Kingdom.”

Manoj Badale, lead owner of Rajasthan Royals, said that they were thrilled to partner with NEOM and launch this grassroots cricket program. 

“This partnership allows us to contribute to NEOM’s vision of fostering an inclusive, active and healthy community,” he said. “We look forward to witnessing the growth of cricket within NEOM and creating a lasting impact for the workforce, residents and society.”

The cricket program at NEOM will be delivered by specialist partners, RISE and Red Bear Sports. These organizations will oversee the implementation of an authentic T20 cricket league within NEOM, with a community-based focus. Additionally, a participation program will be introduced by the end of the year. NEOM recognizes the significance of sports in enhancing lives and aims to support the development of sports leaders within its workforce.
