Oman to generate 25 GW of solar, wind energy

An international consortium comprised of Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OQ), InterContinental Energy, and EnerTech on Monday announced further progress on the development of the Green Energy Oman (GEO) integrated green fuels mega project.

This project aims to produce 25 gigawatts (GW) of renewable solar and wind energy, which will be used to produce over 1.5 million tons of carbon-free hydrogen per year.

Najla Zuhair Al Jamali, Executive Manager of Alternative Energy at OQ said that GEO is at the vanguard of mega-scale green fuels projects, which will put Oman at the forefront of countries that implement similar projects.

The project will utilize Oman’s natural resources of wind and solar to produce green fuels.
