Oman’s natural gas production climbs up 2.3 percent at June end

Muscat, Oman– Oman’s total domestic production of natural gas shot up 2.3 percent to 26.19 billion cubic meters (CBM) until the end of June 2023, as compared to the same period in 2022, when the total amounted to 25.60 billion cubic meters.

Statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that industrial projects accounted for 58.7 percent of the natural gas uses in the Sultanate of Oman at 15.39 billion cubic meters until the end of June 2023.

The total use of natural gas for oil fields amounted to 6.76 billion cubic meters, power plants at 3.89 billion cubic meters and industrial areas at 131.50 million cubic meters.

The non-associated production of natural gas, including imports, amounted to 20.89 billion cubic meters, while the associated production of natural gas amounted to 5.30 billion cubic meters.

Last year, the production of natural gas in Oman saw a slight increase by 0.8 percent at the end of March 2022.

It was up to 11.73 billion cubic meters in March 2022, compared to 11.64 billion cubic meters by the end of the same month last year.

Data issued then by the center indicated that the consumption of natural gas in industrial areas increased by 13.9 percent at the end of last March, compared to the same period in 2021.

In industrial projects, the consumption increased by 4.8 percent year on year.

Gas consumption witnessed a decrease in oil fields by 7 percent and in power plants by 3.3 percent at the end of last March.
