The international arrivals in Qatar exceeded 166,000 people in May, making it the month with highest number of visitors in 2022.

The figures represent more than a quarter of all visitors in the first five months of 2022, and the latest data on visitors point to a steady recovery of Qatar’s tourism sector.

With the year-to-date total (580,000) fast reaching the overall arrivals figure of 2021 (611,000), it signifies a return to pre-pandemic levels of tourism as public health measures for travel ease.

With the strategic focus of festivities held in May as part of ‘Eid in Qatar,’ 54% of all arrivals in May originated from the GCC, with the maximum number of international visitors from Saudi Arabia.

The proportion of arrivals by land exceeded that of air for the first time, with visitors opting to drive through the open and operative Abu Samra border, Qatar Tourism said.
