US-based Rockwell Automation will open its first-ever training center in Egypt, it has announced, according to local reports published on Monday, June 28.

Dealing in industrial automation and information technology, Rockwell — a Fortune 500 company — recently acquired software provider Plex Systems Inc in an all-cash transaction that was valued at $2.2-billion.

According to Fortune Business Insights, the global industrial automation market size was valued at $168.81 billion in 2019, and was projected to reach $326.14 billion by 2027, at a compounded annual growth rate of 8.9%.

Rockwell’s new learning center will be for system integrators and original equipment manufacturers, or OEMs, said the reports.

They quoted Rockwell Automation’s Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt’s Country Director Safwat Hakam as saying: “The industrial skills gap is putting pressure on the manufacturing workforce like never before. Our learning centers are designed to ensure that every customer has the necessary training and knowledge to maximize long-term efficiencies from their investment.”

He added: “Egypt is becoming a powerful industrial force with a strong foundation to continue its impressive growth, but its full potential will be realized by embracing digitalization with the right training in place.”
