The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) seeks to boost its participation in international cultural arenas and events to activate strategic partnerships with international organizations and institutions.

Secretary-General of the GCC, Nayef Al-Hajraf, said this on Friday on the second day of the Second International Forum for Just Peace Culture.

He stressed that the Council is interested in all events that enrich the concept of peace as a common mission that requires concerted international efforts and unity against extremism.

Peace also discards violence but encourages values, tolerance and the respect of human rights, especially for generations to come, he said.

He added that the peace culture is a concept that contains a system of positive values to be translated into actions and behaviors to make changes and outcomes inside the society.

The GCC states have been keen to involve all society’s segments, mainly women, in peace culture, he noted.

He remarked that the GCC’s efforts aim to enhance a fair peace culture, noting that the Council has been playing a pivotal role in boosting security and stability in the region and the world.

Cultural security focuses on enhancing values of moderation, tolerance, dialogue, coexistence and respect of law as well as backing the freedom of thought and innovation, he stated.
