The Ras Al Khaimah New Year’s Eve Celebrations (RAKNYE 2022) broke two Guinness World Records with a fireworks display as it welcomed hundreds of thousands of spectators from across the world.

The RAKNYE 2022 fireworks display was conducted in a six-act sequence starting just before midnight as it welcomed the New Year with a spectacular tower of lights at a height of 1,055.8 meters, taller than any building in the world, said official sources.

This was followed by the “Happy New Year” message written in the sky with firework drones as the sequence lit up the arena in multiple hues, said the sources.

These two sequences broke two new Guinness World Records for Ras Al Khaimah.

Reportedly, the next sequence was a tribute to the UAE backed by orchestral music, celebrating the achievements of the nation and its people when hundreds of drones displayed the UAE’s 50th Anniversary logo, followed by another show that defined the UAE’s ambition for the next 50 years.

Setting the first Guinness World Record for the Highest Altitude Multirotor/Drone Fireworks Display was the tower of fireworks 1,055.8 meters high, taller than any skyscraper in the world, said the sources.

The second Guinness World Record is said to have been for the Most Remote Operated Multirotors/Drones Launching Fireworks Simultaneously, when 452 drones launched fireworks simultaneously to create the Happy New Year visual in the sky.

The fireworks arose from the Arabian Gulf and displayed drone performances with over 15,000 effects, spanning an area of over 3 miles, said the sources.

The 12-minute spectacle was specially choreographed to reflect the joy of reunion with six themes set to epic orchestral music, local media said.

A spokesperson of the organizing committee said, “The New Year’s Eve festivities brought together people again to celebrate safely, and delivered the message of hope, positivity, resilience and confidence.”

Guinness World Records is yet to officially acknowledge the records at the time of the filing of this report.

The organization usually announces the acknowledgement on its official website as well as its Twitter handle.
