Saudi Arabia launches E-Visa system for Umrah pilgrimage

Saudi Arabia has introduced a new electronic visa system for Muslims intending to embark on the spiritual journey of Umrah.
  • The visa issuance has commenced, and the first arrivals under this new system are expected on July 19, according to the Saudi Press Agency
  • Applicants can submit their e-visa applications through the Nusuk platform, available at https://www.nusuk.sa/ar/about

Dubai, UAE – Saudi Arabia has introduced a new electronic visa system for Muslims intending to embark on the spiritual journey of Umrah.

The Ministry of Haj and Umrah aims to facilitate the pilgrimage experience for Muslims worldwide by initiating this streamlined online application process. The visa issuance has commenced, and the first arrivals under this new system are expected on July 19, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Applicants can submit their e-visa applications through the Nusuk platform, available at https://www.nusuk.sa/ar/about.

This comprehensive platform not only facilitates visa processing but also offers a range of services to support pilgrims during their visit to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

These services include accommodation arrangements, transportation provisions, and multilingual information services, ensuring a hassle-free experience for pilgrims from diverse backgrounds.

In a recent announcement by the Ministry of Tourism, Saudi Arabia extended the eligibility for instant e-visas to certain visa holders from the United Kingdom, the United States, Schengen nations, and permanent residents of any European Union country.

However, applicants with a business or tourism visa to the UK, US, or an EU country must have previously visited the respective place before applying for a Saudi Arabian visa.

Close relatives of individuals holding the aforementioned visas will also benefit from this new policy, as they will be granted entry into Saudi Arabia and have the option to obtain a visa upon arrival. The visa-on-arrival, however, does not permit participation in the Haj or Umrah pilgrimage during the pilgrimage season.

By implementing the e-visa system and expanding its eligibility criteria, Saudi Arabia aims to enhance accessibility and accommodate a greater number of Muslims seeking to undertake the sacred journey of Umrah. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s commitment to facilitating religious tourism and providing a memorable and fulfilling experience for pilgrims.
