Riyadh, Saudi Arabia- —Saudi Arabia will host the World Under-21 Snooker Championship for men and women in July 2023, SPA reported.
The championship is being hosted at the request request of the Saudi Arabian Billiard and Snooker Federation and the official approval was made during the meetings of the General Assembly of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF), which was held during the past two days in Antalya, Turkey.
At the meeting, it was also agreed in principle that Saudi Arabia will host the World Cup for Billiard and Snooker for men and women in October of 2024 for six balls and masters.
Hosting the championship is the kingdom’s one more step towards the development and promotion of the sports sector in its pursuit to achieve the Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
Saudi Arabia has been betting heavily on sport, hosting Formula One, the Dakar Rally, a cycling tour, boxing title fights and the Spanish Supercup and is preparing a bid to co-host the 2030 World Cup.
Saudi investors have bought English football club Newcastle and are financing the breakaway LIV golf tour.
