Doha, Qatar – David Beckham, the English footballer and model, is spearheading a new tourism campaign for Qatar Tourism to attract six million visitors by 2030.

As part of the campaign, which comes just ahead of the FIFA World Cup, Beckham tours the country with several local personalities, exploring spice markets and street art in the Gulf nation.

“Qatar has surprised me with a wide range of great experiences you can have in just 48 hours. The people are warm and welcoming, and it is a great place to spend a few days,” the former footballer said, quoted by the regional media. “The people of Qatar are really passionate about their culture and the mix of modern and traditional creates something really special.”

The campaign will highlight Qatar’s potential as a destination for quick weekend getaways.

“I encourage the millions who transit through Qatar every year to follow in David’s footsteps and create their own exciting adventure and memories,” Akbar Al Baker, the chairman of Qatar Tourism, and the group chief executive of Qatar Airways, said. “We have something for everyone at an incredible value, whether it’s sun, sea and sand, rich heritage and culture, surprising nature, or a modern and fun city break.”

Earlier, this month, Qatar Tourism has launched the ‘Qatar Host’ training programme for the frontline staff who engage with visitors. The programme developed in collaboration with global industry experts will teach how to enhance the visitor experience and exceed expectations in every encounter.

The initiative is part of the Service Excellence Programme, which builds on Qatar Tourism’s strategy, to enhance the visitor experience at every touchpoint along their journey.

The programme involves a multi-pronged approach to ensure a seamless customer journey. In collaboration with stakeholders. Qatar Tourism evaluates frontline professionals across sectors and offers training and certifications to ensure the highest standard of professional service for visitors.
