EXCLUSIVE: AI agents to reshape the future of work, says CEO Automation Anywhere

Mihir Shukla, Chairman and CEO of Automation Anywhere.
  • Mihir Shukla reveals AI agents will revolutionize work, blending autonomous, assisted, and manual tasks
  • The company operates 300 million AI agents globally, with a growing presence in the Middle East

Davos, Switzerland: AI agents are set to revolutionize the way businesses operate, with tasks being divided into autonomous, AI-assisted, and manual processes. This transformative shift will redefine the future of work, Mihir Shukla, Chairman and CEO of Automation Anywhere, told TRENDS in an exclusive interview on the sidelines of the Davos summit

“AI agents will fundamentally alter the way we work. In this journey of transforming work, AI agents have a leading role to play,” Shukla said.

Automation Anywhere is an “agentic AI company,” providing a platform for businesses to create and deploy AI agents that perform end-to-end tasks by combining cognitive and routine functions to achieve specific goals.

“Imagine hiring someone and asking them to achieve a goal through various methods. AI agents can now do the same, intelligently executing tasks to meet objectives,” Shukla explained. “There will be certain parts of each of our businesses that will work autonomously because AI agents will be able to run some part of the business autonomously. There will be certain parts that will be assisted by AI and then there’ll be some remaining manual.”

“You are able to now program AI agents to do the same and AI agents can achieve a goal through various methods,” he added.

Shukla observed that artificial intelligence has taken center stage at this year’s World Economic Forum, with global leaders prioritizing discussions around its transformative impact.

“Virtually every company is talking about AI, and understandably so. It is by far the technology that will have the most dramatic impact on businesses,” he said. “And given we are the leader in this space, it is exciting to have so many conversations with various industry leaders.

With a strategic focus on redefining workspaces, the company aims to empower businesses to embrace the next wave of automation.

The company currently operates 300 million AI agents across 5,000 customers in 90 countries. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Automation Anywhere also has a growing presence in the Middle East, with offices in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

“The Middle East is a key market for us, and we continue to expand our operations there,” Shukla noted.
