Jordan’s exports to non-Arab Asian countries climb to US$1.16bn in Q1

Amman, Jordan— Trade between Jordan and non-Arab Asian countries has shot up in the first quarter of 2023, with the value of the kingdom’s exports to the countries surging to about $1.16 billion, compared to about $1.07 billion for the same period last year, according to foreign trade data issued by the Department of Statistics (DOS).

The value of national exports to the countries of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) grew by 1 per cent in the first third of this year, to reach about $1.14 billion, compared to about $1.13 billion for the same period last year.

The volume of Jordanian exports to the North American Free Trade Agreement countries increased by 2.6 per cent in the first third of this year, reaching nearly $898 million, compared to $876 million for the same period last year.

As for the volume of Jordanian exports to the European Union countries, they grew by 3.1 per cent in the first third of this year, to reach about $134 million, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to about $131.7 million.

The volume of national exports to the rest of the economic blocs increased by 3.6 per cent until the end of April of this year, to reach about $441 million, compared to $426 million for the same period last year.

Jordanian exports grew with various trading partners and economic blocs in the first third of this year, reaching $3.78 billion, compared to $3.63 billion for the same period last year.
