The Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Committee, Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, confirmed on Saturday that strategic plan to Amman into a smart city is complete. He said the municipality is also expanding the capital and developing its publication transportation.
The mayor also revealed that GAM’s plan to transform Amman into a “smart city” looked at other countries’ experiences in this field, stressing that the digital transformation in the comprehensive sense needs real partnership among all parties.
Amman also figured among Bloomberg’s winning cities in 2021-2022 mayors’ challenge. The fifth edition of the worldwide competition recognized those cities which had designed the “boldest and most ambitious urban innovations” to emerge from the global Covid-19 pandemic. Amman was one of the cities which will receive $1m and multi-year technical support.
