Amsterdam, Netherlands – Saudi Arabia and Netherlands on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on energy on the sidelines of the  World Hydrogen 2023 Summit & Exhibition. 

The event was attended by the Saudi Minister of Energy Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud.

The MoU aims to establish a framework for cooperation between the two countries and strengthen it in several energy sectors, including renewable energy and issues related to energy security and transitions, such as clean hydrogen. It also facilitates the formation and activation of international supply chains linking the two countries and cooperation on technologies and solutions related to climate change, such as the circular carbon economy and its technologies.

During the event Salman Al Saud also participated in a session titled, “The global aspirations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of clean hydrogen,” and talked about global hydrogen industry and supplies. 

Earlier in April, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands discussed the possibility of exporting clean hydrogen from the kingdom to Europe following a meeting between .Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Netherlands Wopke Hoekstra in Jeddah.
