Doha, Qatar – Following a landmark visit by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Qatar, the seventh meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council concluded with a joint statement promising enhanced bilateral relations and cooperation on a multitude of fronts.

The visit, rooted in historical ties and fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, has been a significant step in deepening the collaboration between the two Gulf nations. The Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council meeting, co-chaired by the Crown Prince and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, was marked by a spirit of cordiality and mutual trust.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed an array of issues ranging from political consultations to economic and trade partnerships, underscoring their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation. The Crown Prince’s visit underscored the rapid development in relations between the two countries, highlighting the Council as a key medium for communication and coordination.

Notably, the Crown Prince received congratulations from Sheikh Tamim for Riyadh’s victory in hosting the World Expo 2030 and the Kingdom’s bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup. The Saudi side expressed appreciation for Qatar’s support for these significant global events.

The Council’s outcomes included the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation across various fields. This includes strengthening security and military collaboration to support regional stability and developing partnerships in security and military domains.

Economic and trade discussions focused on enhancing economic partnerships, diversifying trade, and investing in opportunities within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030. The two sides emphasized the importance of increasing investment cooperation and supporting economic integration in targeted sectors.

In terms of investments, energy, and infrastructure, the two countries agreed to maintain discussions on expanding joint investment partnerships and cooperation in promoting economic ventures. This includes a Saudi-Qatari initiative for digital skills and discussions on enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy, transportation, agriculture, and food security.

A strategic media partnership was also established between the Ministry of Media in Saudi Arabia and the Qatar Media Corporation to enhance media content reliability and global event coverage.

The two countries expressed deep concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the need for a comprehensive and just resolution to the Palestinian question. They also discussed regional issues, including the Yemeni crisis, Sudan’s situation, and the Syrian conflict, emphasizing the importance of finding comprehensive solutions to these challenges.

The Saudi-Qatari agreement to resume diplomatic relations with Iran was also a notable topic, with both countries calling on Iran to cooperate fully with the IAEA regarding its nuclear program.

As the meeting concluded, the leaders reiterated their commitment to deepening their bilateral relations and expressed gratitude to the teams that contributed to the Council’s success. This meeting marks a significant step in fostering peace and stability in the region and the world. (SPA)
