Dubai, UAE – The Houthi movement, which is part of the “Axis of Resistance” supported by Iran, has expressed its support for the Palestinians since the start of the conflic on October 7, and even launched missiles towards Israel despite being 1,000 miles away.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree announced in a televised statement quoted by Reuters that they had launched a number of ballistic missiles and drones toward Israel. Saree also indicated that more such attacks were planned to aid the Palestinian cause.

Israel’s National Security Adviser, Tzachi Hanegbi, described the Houthi attacks as intolerable but did not provide specific details on how Israel might respond.

The Houthi movement, with its slogan “Death to America, death to Israel, curse the Jews and victory to Islam,” is a significant component of the “Axis of Resistance,” which opposes Israel and the United States. The conflict, which began on October 7, has seen various groups within this axis conducting attacks in the region. Iran-backed militias in Iraq and Syria have targeted US forces, and Lebanon’s Hezbollah has engaged in clashes with Israeli forces along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

The Houthi movement has previously demonstrated its missile and drone capabilities during the Yemen war, launching attacks on Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree placed blame on Israel for the instability in the Middle East, emphasizing that they would continue their attacks until Israeli aggression ceased.
