King Abdullah of Jordan and Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani discussed in Doha on Tuesday, October 12, various topics, starting with bilateral ties, according to official sources.

Their conversation also covered the latest regional and international developments, said the sources.

King Abdullah and Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed the ties between the two countries and peoples, and also the keenness to bolster them across the political, economic, investment, development, and cultural fields.

They are also said to have discussed ways to increase employment opportunities for Jordanians in Qatar.

Discussions at the expanded talks, which were followed by a bilateral meeting, covered the need to continue coordination and consultation on various issues of mutual concern.

During the talks, attended by His Jordanian Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, King Abdullah reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause, and the importance of stepping up efforts towards reaching a just and comprehensive peace, on the basis of the two-state solution, guaranteeing the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and a viable Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also noted that Jordan would continue all efforts to safeguard Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem under the Hashemite Custodianship.
